Slow to draw. Quick to dig.
Marta started Elowen after twelve years at a public arboretum. She still designs like someone who has watched the same plants for decades.

A long walk
An hour or two on site, at a time of day you're usually home. We photograph the views from inside as well.
You leave with: notes, soil samples, and a first idea - 2
A drawn plan
Three to five weeks later, a hand-colored plan you can hold, and a plant list with pictures.
You leave with: a price you can compare, line by line - 3
Stone, then soil, then plants
Our own crew handles the hard work first. Marta sets out every plant herself before it goes in the ground.
You leave with: a garden, and a care sheet for year one - 4
The spring visit
We return every spring for free for the first three years, because plants don't read drawings.
You leave with: a garden that keeps improving
Good to know
When should I call you?
Autumn is best for a spring garden. Stonework can start in almost any month the ground isn't frozen.
Will it be a lot of upkeep?
Tell us how much you would actually do, and we will design to that. A low-care garden is a design decision, not an accident.
What budget should I plan for?
Most complete gardens run $40,000 to $150,000. We also do single beds, and you will always know the price first.
Do you work with deer?
Sadly, yes. We keep a list of what they have and have not eaten in this county, going back nine years.
